Karma is an inescapable law of The Supreme God. It is generally misunderstood as an oriental spiritual concept but is actually present in many ancient religions of the world. It is a mysterious and occult force of nature that is both simple in its application yet very complex in its actual working.
Some examples of global widespread of this mysterious concept are as follows:
And here they say that a person consists of desires,
and as is his desire, so is his will;
and as is his will, so is his deed;
and whatever deed he does, that he will reap. — Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, 7th Century BC
Galatians 6:7: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows this he will also reap.”
2 Corinthians 5:10: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.”
What is Karma?
Karma is divine “positive or negative attributed energy” resulting in material “benefits or obligations” that we all accrue in our human life as a direct output-result of each instance of OUR mental thoughts & physical actions irrespective of whether done consciously or unconsciously. Thus;
[Thoughts, Actions] => [+ve, -ve karma Energy] => [Benefits, Obligations]
How does it operate?

How does it operate?
The Nature, positive-good-expansive-unselfish or negative-evil-contractive-selfish, of our intention behind each mental thought or physical action colors or imprints the karmic energy with the respective positive or negative attribute resulting in accrual of either benefit to us or obligation due by us. Thus;
[Thoughts, Actions] => [+ve, -ve karma Energy] => [Benefits, Obligations]
[+ve, good, expansive, unselfish] => [+ve Karma Energy] => [Benefits]
[-ve, evil, contractive, selfish] => [-ve Karma Energy] => [Obligations]
The Result?
[Thoughts, Actions] => [+ve, -ve karma Energy] => [Benefits, Obligations]
[+ve, good, expansive, unselfish] => [+ve Karma Energy] => [Benefits]
[-ve, evil, contractive, selfish] => [-ve Karma Energy] => [Obligations]
The Result?
“The Net effect of +ve & -ve Karmic energies determines our net overall present condition whether we are Enjoying or Suffering in life due to a combination of 4 primary factors which are Health, Wealth, Social relationships, Spirituality.”
It is to be noted that our present net karmic balance must also take into account the portion of accumulated net karmic balance we inherited at birth from our previous incarnations.
Since our thoughts and actions are continuous activities every second, minute, hour, days, months and years since birth, we also continuously generate +ve or –ve karmic energies and therefore the net karmic balance is not a constant but keeps changing with time.
If we wish to improve our present situation in order to be happy and enjoy life, we have to necessarily increase the +ve karmic energies and reduce the –ve karmic energies thereby achieving a sustained +ve net karmic balance over a period of time.
Pranic Grand Master Choa Kok Sui has explained in great details the means by which everyone has the capability and the choice to affect his/her karmic balance. He has laid down some rules and principles which act as a practical guide to improving our life and reduce suffering.

We will now try to understand what these principles and rules are.
To generate positive karma, the essential actions that everyone needs to follow in the prescribed descending order are as follows:-
Ø Tithing or donation – We must donate at least 10% of our total income as follows;
o Parents
o Spiritual Guru
o Spiritual institutions
o Spiritually endowed places of worships like Temples, Church, and Mosques.
o Charitable institutions
It is important to note that tithing is to be done out of total income and not savings. It is upon us to use a personal allocation ratio between the various recipients and in a descending order. If the level of suffering is very high, we should try and increase the ratio from 10% to 15%.
Ø Service
It is incumbent upon us to engage in any act of service without expectation of fees or charges. Ideally, we should spend at least an hour a week in selfless act of service for public good and more hours if the level of suffering is high and unbearable. Service can be in any institution for public good like teaching, medical assistance, social work, spiritual activities, disaster relief, skills training. This method is very powerful and generates very high positive karma if done with clean, honest and selfless intentions.
If after performing tithing & service regularly, we do not experience a change in the overall situation it should be understood that the suffering is for a greater cause and should be calmly accepted and experienced. Some karmic lessons are required to be learnt thru suffering in the present life which is the purpose of our incarnation. Hence, we should submit and bear thru the period of turbulence.
To avoid & decrease negative karma, what we need to be aware of and practice in our daily life every instant are the following rules:-
Ø Practice forgiveness & mercy (this Law is very very powerful and supersedes law of Karma. If we forgive, then only are we forgiven)
Ø Non cruelty & non injury in thoughts, words, actions (very critical. Repeated acts of cruelty & injury will generally return back to us as severe & critical health disorders)
Ø Non stealing in thoughts, words, actions
Ø Non lying
Ø Honesty & integrity
Ø Showing Compassion & kindness (very critical)
Ø Non jealousy & hatred
Ø Avoid revenge & vengeance
Ø Improper relationships & lust
These are very simple guidelines but very difficult to practice in our materialistic existence with diverse forces acting on us and pulling us in different directions. Emotions & desires control our activities and we are generally helpless to resist them or even understand their real nature. It is the mysterious mind that is in real control.
It is therefore imperative that we try and establish some level of control over our mind and the only way to achieve this objective is to fix a daily practice of 15-30 minutes of some form of meditative technique. This is very effective in calming the mind, bringing down the level of emotional forces and giving us the opportunity to be alert, aware and conscious of our mind and its desires & thought’s. Only by this method, we may be sure that negative karma is not generated or is at least decreased by discrimination and rejection of negative thoughts and desires.

These rules & principles are certainly doable by all of us but require that we have faith and make a firm step towards practice. Motivation is provided by the desire to be rid of our suffering but the active power to practice can only come from faith. Therefore, we must first make a leap of faith and then ask the questions. Mere reading alone is useless in this age of Kali. Action or kriya is the key, for in this Kali Yuga we shall receive the fruits of our karma whether good or bad in this very lifetime.
"The same thought repeated with will, power & concentration tends to materialize." This is a secret to success. Think about it.
“Arise! Awake! and stop not until the goal is reached” (Swami Vivekananda)
